Shin Splints Solution Details

fron-view-lower-leg-webby.gif Shin Splints

Shin splints, or medial/lateral tibial stress syndrome, is an overuse injury occurring along the shin bone (tibia) where the muscles and tendons connect. Stress from high-impact activities, usually running, can result in tiny tears along the muscles of the shin. With these microtears, there is associated swelling and weakness of the muscles. This creates strain on the connective tissues and bone, which will continue to worsen if not treated.

A primary care physician may be the first to evaluate your condition and will look at your motion, strength, and signs of swelling. He or she will commonly find tenderness along the shin, as well as pain with stretching and contracting the affected muscles. The doctor may order an X-ray to rule out stress fractures of the shin bone, which has similar symptoms. You may be referred to an orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist, who will further examine your ankle and foot and discuss treatment options with you.

The treatment of shin splints often includes oral anti-inflammatory medications in conjunction with rest and ice to decrease swelling. A physical therapist or athletic trainer has additional treatments that can help reduce inflammation. Shoe inserts, massage, and gentle stretching may also help alleviate symptoms of shin splints.

30 Softgels - One Month Supply

XimegaTM Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement contains 952mg of two omega-3-acid ethyl esters, EPA and DHA, the recommended therapeutic dose necessary to life and health.

Omega-3 Studies have shown both EPA and DHA have anti-inflammatory properties that are extremely beneficial for many conditions, including: heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, musculoskeletal conditions, osteoporosis, depression, skin disorders, macular degeneration, and some cancers. Omega-3s cannot be produced in the human body, but are naturally found in fish oils.

Manufactured in an FDA certified facility, XimegaTM is pharmaceutical grade and molecularly distilled to remove impurities such as mercury, a harmful toxin commonly found in fish. Please read more about our Omega-3 production and how Wellness ProfessionalsTM has made quality a priority for the manufacturing of our supplements.

Our softgels contain Vitamin E which helps keep the fish oil fresh and decreases incidences of "fish burps." If you do experience these, it is helpful to take the softgels with a full meal or store your bottle in the refrigerator, as it produces a time-released effect.
