I've just started running again after having a bad case of runner's knee. Popular theory is that my lack of stretching and a running form that left a lot to be desired were the big contributors to uneven stabilizing muscles around the patella that pulled my knee outta whack leading to grinding and inflammation. I'm working through it, and perhaps haven't backed off of my activity as much as some believe I should, but I'm paying attention to my limitations.
Anyone else work their way to recover from sports related pain (runner's knee, chondromalacia patella, or other) and successfully get back to high impact sports? Did you have to stop your activity entirely, or just back off? What helped you work your way back up to performing like before (or better than before)?
